PAL Goes To Campus Unhas

Dr. Kaharuddin Djenod, M.Eng, the CEO/President of PT. PAL Indonesia, delivered a public lecture on “Indonesia’s Maritime Independence” to the academic community of Hasanuddin University. The event took place on Wednesday (07/06) starting at 09:00 AM Wita in the Senate Room on the 2nd floor of the Rectorate Building at Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar.

During the event, Kaharuddin emphasized that Indonesia envisions itself as a global maritime axis by 2045. This vision involves the rapid development of the maritime economy and the establishment of a robust maritime power. The contribution of the maritime economy to the GDP is expected to increase from 6.4% in 2015 to 12.5% in 2045.

“As an archipelagic nation, Indonesia holds a strategic position in realizing its national interests. Building maritime defense and security capabilities is a necessity. PT. PAL consistently strives to develop advanced technology to strengthen the capabilities of constructing and designing the necessary warships and commercial vessels,” Kaharuddin explained.

Furthermore, Kaharuddin elaborated on several innovative products developed by PT. PAL to support the availability of naval and commercial ships required by Indonesia. He emphasized the importance of strengthening human resources to collectively safeguard Indonesia’s maritime sovereignty and wealth.

Kaharuddin stated that universities play a vital role in contributing to Indonesia’s maritime strength and security through the preparation of high-quality human resources supported by technology-based digital curricula.

After delivering the lecture, a discussion and question-and-answer session followed with the attendees. The event, which brought together approximately 200 participants from various disciplines, proceeded smoothly until 12:00 PM Wita.
